Description Tin rectangular box with attached hinged lid; lid has raised scroll/shield design with cut-out slot and attached swivel oval wire handle; swivel latch attached to lid front and overhangs box front, fastening components missing from box front. Two holes drilled into back. Remnant dark blue paint on entire exterior; thin gold/yellow painted line on lid and two on box; rusty/dirty painted(?) design on top of lid. Interior unpainted.

One of two ballet boxes (see also 260-5-T1) used at the first election held in Oshkosh when Edward Eastman was elected mayor on April 5, 1853. These boxes were used in the first and second wards. They were later used by the women at school elections.
