Notes Bust view image of SPIEGELBERG, Wilhelm - Lt., Company F, 19th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. He wears a dark coat and has a moustache.

Wilhelm was born in 1824 at Prussia. Louise, his wife, was born circa 1820 also at Prussia. They were listed in the 1860 federal census as residing on a farm in the town of Winchester, Winnebago County. Agnes, their daughter, was born circa 1854 at Prussia and was married in Winnebago County on Apr. 26, 1872 to Ernst Richter. Charles, son of Wilhelm and Louise, was born circa 1857 at Prussia. William listed his residence as Bloomfield, Waushara County when he enlisted on Jan. 16, 1862. He was assigned as above and was commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant in that company on Mar. 27, 1862. Wilhelm was then promoted to 1st Lieutenant in that company and was wounded on Oct. 27, 1864 at Fair Oaks, Virginia. He had resigned his commission on Oct. 26, 1864. William was listed in 1883 at P.O. Zoar and receiving a pension of $4.25 per month for a wound to his right hand. Wilhelm was listed in the veteran section of the 1885, 1895 and 1905 Wisconsin State cen-sus at P.O. Oshkosh, Winnebago County. He was listed in 1888 as a member of GAR Post #241 at Oshkosh. He had been listed in the 1890 federal census as residing in the town of Wolf River, Winnebago County at P.O. Zittau. William then listed that he had suffered a gunshot wound and that he was then generally unhealthy. He was listed in 1905 as an insurance agent boarding at 238 Eighth Street in the city of Oshkosh. William died in 1908 and is buried in the town of Wolf River at Boom Bay Cemetery.
