Bust view portrait of Harvey B. Dale, Sr.. He wears a dark suit and tie and has a moustache and goatee. Dr. Harvey B. Dale, Sr. was born on October 23, 1835 in New York. He came to Wisconsin in 1856 and settled in Oshkosh four years later, where he began a medical practice that flourished. In 1861 he married Augusta S. Olcott and the couple had one son, Harvey B. Dale, Jr (who followed his father into the medical profession). Dr. Dale was elected mayor of Oshkosh four separate times, in 1879, 1880, 1887, and 1888. He was superintendent of public schools for the city for eleven years and served on the Board of Regents for the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Governor George W. Peck. He passed away July 7, 1897. |
