Notes Bust view portrait of William Hume in later life. He wears a dark suit and tie and has a gray beard.
William hume was born in Northumberland, Scotland. He married Rebecca Airis. He immigrated to the US and settled in Rock County, Wisconsin. He came to Oshkosh in 1867. They had at least two sons: John W. and Jay Hume. He was part owner of Gould, Hume & Company lumber and was a dealer in sashes, doors and blinds. In 1879 he was part owner in Hume & Washburn Company. He died December 12, 1907 in Oshkosh.
