aBust view of George M. Wakefield. He is wearing a dark frock coat; vest; and white shirt. He also wears a very long full beard with no moustache. George M. Wakefield was an early Winnebago County pioneer, coming to the area in 1847. By 1869 he was living in Oshkosh. He had dealings in lumber, iron mines, Wakefield Flour Mills, and land specualtion. By 1886 he had moved his family to Milwaukee, but still kept a room and office in Oshkosh as President and Treasurer of the Agogeebic, Summit, & Tobin, Exploring, Mining, & Manufacturing Co. |
