Notes	Bust view image of James B. Tolman. He wears a dark frock coat; light colored vest; white shirt with paper collar; and string tie. He wears a chin beard without moustache. William W. Tolman was born October 23, 1845 in Needham, Mass., the son of James Broad and Mary Felton Tolman. He came with his parents to Oshkosh in 1857 at the age of twelve. He was a volunteer Fireman at Fire House No. 1 (Phoenix) and No. 4 (Brooklyn). He married Sarah "Jennie" Lambert on March 17, 1870 in Oshkosh. He and his wife had three children: James Tolman; George L. Tolman; John A. Tolman: and Lucy Tolman Ego (wife of R. W. Ego). The family left Oshkosh prior to 1879 and possibly lived in Nebraska. They returned in 1898 where William was in the heating and plumming business. He later worked as a steamboat pilot. He died in Minneapolis while visiting his daughter in January 1927.
