Quarterplate daguerreotype with brass oval mat, preserver, and glass in half case, part of P2000.26.4, John Fitzgerald. Three-quarter seated view of Mary Doty Fitzgerald wearing a plaid silk dress with fringed V-bodice with lace collar and sleeves. Mary was the only daughter of the first Territorial Governor of Wisconsin, James Duane Doty and Sarah Colins Doty. Mary was born in Greenbay on March 27, 1832. She maried John Fitzgerald in Neenah at "The Loggery" on January 4, 1855 and was widowed in January 1863. They had a daughter Nellie, born in Oshkosh. Mary died in Oshkosh in 1906.
