Letter from Sarah James to former President Theodore Roosevelt requesting him to support women's suffrage during his speech in Oshkosh: Oshkosh Oct. 9, 1912 Col. Theo. Roosevelt, Dear Sir, A word from you in Oshkosh Friday evening on the subject of Woman Suffrage might save Wisconsin from such defeat as Ohio met in her last election, and might give our state the honor of being the first state East of the Mississippi River to give women the ballot. We would value your aid. We thank you for what you have done. Very truly, Sarah james, Pres. Oshkosh Equal Suffrage League
