Description
Limestone? Irregular rectangular/square; terraced, middle band is broader than top and bottom. From the Arthur P. Kannenberg Collection. He recorded the following in his catalog: "A small square base pipe made of limestone. It was plowed up on a farm in the town of Brussels, in Door County. Lester Sonn who teaches school near by received it from the farmer, he gave it to me." Original catalog card written by Kannenberg for L300-51 (5897APK): "Banded square bowl pipe. Locality: Brussels, Door County, Wisconsin. Received from Lester Sonn. Gray limestone. This is a peculiar shaped pipe. It was a surface find in a sand blow. It looks very much as though it had been retouched with metal tools. I exchanged a few small pieces for this pipe. I secured it from Lester Sonn."
