Description 
Purple steatite with light gray inclusions (bowl.) Square bowl; spatulate-like stem-end. Incised nested curvilinear design on bottom. Overall recent abrasions. From the Arthur P. Kannenberg Collection. He recorded the following in his catalog: "Purple steatite square bowl pipe found on the farm of Gust Busse near Coloma in Waushara County. It was found in the center of a mound group area on the shore of Pleasant Lake while excavating a series of the mounds. It was located about 2 feet below the grass in Mound No. 2 of the group. It has several curves scratched into the bottom like several wigwams in one. (Received from) Gust Busse." Original catalog card written by Kannenberg for L300-68 (5091APK): "Square bowled monitor pipe. Locality: Coloma, Waushara County, WI. Received from Gust Busse. Purple steatite. A perfect specimen. It has the framework of a wigwam scratched into its base. It was found in a sand mound near Coloma with the remains of a sand tempered pot."
