Bowl was broken and glued on two sides: one breakage from rim down to base of bowl, other from rim down to top of shank. Shanks has two cracks and one hole on base (thin wall). Irregular accumulation of black resinous accretions in bowl interior. Original catalog card: "Stemmed Micmac Pipe. Locality: Found near the site of old Ft. Crawford, Prairie du Chien, Crawford County, Wis. Received from Carl Wittman Collection, Merrill, Wis. Feb 22, 1941. Catlinite. The base on this pipe has six sides, with a flat bottom. The bowl sets on a slender round stem with a spool like top."
