Red sandstone. Charred/smudged. Handwritten in black ink "MERRILL/WIS" on one side and "J. Wiegand" on another.
Original catalog card: "A reconstructed Pipe made from another broken pipe. Made from hard sandstone. Locality: Found near Merrill, Wis, Lincoln County. Received from Carl Wittman Collection, Merrill, Wis. Date: Feb 22, 1941. Sandstone. Made from another broken pipe, square bowl, with a 3/8 inch stem hole cut into the center of a narrow side. The bowl hole is 5/8 inches across. It was found by a man named J. Wiegand." |
