Description Granite? Stone similar to 2592-154. Bowl has conical interior; aborted stem hole attempted from inside? Base below bowl is perforated from front of bowl (away from smoker) through the bottom, possibly used as a suspension hole.

Original catalog card: "An odd Keel shape Pipe. Black granite. Locality near Amherst Jc., Portage County, Wis. Received from Carl Wittman, Merrill, Wis. Date Feb 22, 1941. Dark black and gray granite. The Stem hole is 3/8 inches and is located in the center of the pipe. It has a 1/4 inch hole drill through the base on a bias and is located in front of the pipe. This hole evidently was used for the suspension of feathers or other decorations. This is the only pipe of its kind known to have been found in Wisconsin."
