Dark red pipestone. Broken/unfinished. Conical bowl, grooved and notched. Two stem holes.
From the Benedict Collection acquired by Charles Koehn.
Original catalog card: "Vase-shaped Pipe. Locality: Butte des Morts, Winnebago County, Wis. Received from E. Benedict - Chas. Koehn Coll. Catlinite. This pipe evidently was the bowl of an inlaid pipe which was broken off, later it was redrilled on the side and a vase-shape bowl made from it. Notice the four small holes drill through it near the top o the bowl. It also has a hole through the bottom." |
