Description
Red-purple pipestone. Reworked pipe-head? Cylinder with one hole on side near base, another hole in base; base is cut straight; top lip has 2 raised encircling rings, the lower ring has widely-spaced incised cross hatching ("x"). Original catalog card: "Vase shaped Pipe. Locality: Poygan Township, Winnebago County, Wis. Received from S. D. Mitchell Collection. Catlinite. It looks very much as though this pipe had been the small bowl of another pipe, it evidently was broken off accidently and repaired by cutting off the base and redrilling a holw through the bottom."
