Description 
Black steatite. Round cross-section. Five incised encircling grooves (creating four encircling bands) near stem-end and near bowl rim. Incised lines extend from base of bowl around shank producing a raised broad band. Tapered prow with beveled end extends beyond front of the bowl. Charred accretions on bowl lip and bowl interior. Original catalog card includes: "Locality: Pine Ridge Sioux Reservation. Received from: Paul Joers." "This is a semi-modern creation. These pipe are in use among the Sioux at the present time." Notations on the back of (a Milwaukee Public Museum?) photographic print include: "This pipe was secured from a Yankton Sioux Indian by Mr. Fred McKay." Object Late Date is the year of the Fred McKay loan to the museum, circa 1925.
