Description	Broad, flat stem made from one piece of wood, slight diamond cross section. Surface is decorated with over-all randomly placed file/rasp burns on both faces; edges are straight and undecorated. The mouthpiece and bowl-end extend from center (or near center) of either ends of the stem and are nearly the same height as the stem; the mouthpiece is a slightly tapered and slightly flattened cylinder (1.9 cm long); the bowl-end is a slightly tapered cylinder (7.2 cm long). Pipe-head is purplish-red pipestone, one side with light speckling; T-shaped; carving and abrasion striations visible. The shank is a square (3.6 cm wide) with cut off corners at stem-end, then an oval section (3.2 cm wide) with flattened bottom very slightly tapered (3.1 cm wide) to base of the bowl, the prow is further tapered with 3 facets on each side and ends is a faceted oval cross section (1.5 cm wide.) Dark resinous stains on bowl interior and rim. Object Late Date is the year of the Fred McKay loan to the museum, circa 1925. Original catalog card: "This is practically a new pipe. The stem is burnt with a red hot pitted iron. It was received from an Indian who says his name was Jim Crow."
