Original catalog card written by Kannenberg for L300-35 (3919APK): "Catlinite discoidal pipe. Locality: Town of Oshkosh, Winnebago County. Received from Walter Karow. Wisconsin catlinite. This was a surface find by Walter Karow while plowing a corn field on his farm on County Trunk A, 5 miles north of Oshkosh. It has a bad fracture on the base. It must have been used as a Medicine Man's pipe. Found in 1915 by Walter Karow. $1.00 (presumabley Kannenberg paid Karow for the pipe.)" Notations on the back of (a Milwaukee Public Museum?) photographic print include: Handleless disk pipe. Found on the Walter Karrow farm, Town of Oshkosh, Winnebago County, WI. It was a surface find.
