From the Benedict Collection acquired by Charles Koehn.

Excerpt from the Koehn catalog includes: "An egg shape pebble pipe. Stone drilled both ways. It was found by Mrs. Brown in 1869 on Butte des Morts Hill where the (blank) Church now stands."

Original catalog card: "Ovoid Pipe. Locality: Butte des Morts, Winnebago County, Wisc. Received from E. Benedict - Charles Koehn Collection. Limestone pebble. A surface find on Butte des Morts Hill by Mrs. Brown, mother of Charles E. Brown, Secretary of the Wisconsin Archeological Society and Director of the Wisconsin Historical Museum. It was found in 1869 right next to where the Methodist Church now stands."
