Red pipestone pipe-head; acute angle; octagonal bowl; stem-end has round cross section with flat top and bottom; accreted black resins in bowl and on bowl rim.
Original catalog card: "Elbow pipe. Locality: Zoar Settlement, Neopit, Menominee Indian Reservation. Received from John Way-Ke. R. N. Buckstaff Collection. Date: 1927. This pipe, tobacco bag of calico and mixed kinnikinnick and tobacco was purchased from John Way-ke an old Medicine Man among the pagan Indians in the Zoar Settlement, during a museum expedition by R. N. Buckstaff." |
