Description Pipe-head only. Dark red pipestone with lighter coloring and speckling. Conical bowl, black resinous adhesions on bowl interior; shank has round cross section with flat base, tabular crest on top, tapered and faceted prow in front of bowl. Illegible hand writing(?) on shank near stem-end. Broken and glued.

Original catalog card: "Catlinite Winged Calumet complete with stem (stem missing). Locality: Keshena Indian Reservation, Shawano County, Wis. Received from Mrs. Winifred Kowalke. Date: 1943. Minnesota catlinite. ... The wooden stem is 28 1/2 inches long overall, 1 3/8" wide at bowl end, 1/2 inch thick. At the mouth it is 1 3/16 inches wide and 5/16" thick. It is carved to represent a snake. This is a rather old historical pipe."
