Object Name Pipe, T-shaped
Count 1
Description Rectangular stem made from one piece of wood; rectangular cross section at mouthpiece (1.4 cm high, 2.3 cm wide); nearly square with rounded corners cross section at bowl-end (1.9 cm high, 2.1 cm wide); flat edges. Overall file burn marks. Two areas (amorphous bands) of greenish stains encircle the stem on either side of the middle of the stem; unknown if from lost ornamentation, use or post-use. One face is decorated with 5 low dome brass tacks near both ends; other face is decorated with 3 low dome brass tacks near both ends. The end with the mouthpiece has cut-off corners that continue in a curve then straighten out to form a flattened cylinder (1 cm long, 1 cm wide and 7 mm high.) The bowl-end is cut straight with a cylinder (2.5 cm long, 8 mm diameter) extending from the center.

The black steatite pipe-head is elbow shaped with a nearly square with rounded corners cross section and a flat bottom. The slightly conical bowl is decorated with lead and red pipestone inlay starting just below the rim, most of the steatite rim cap (less than 1 mm thick) is broken and missing. The lead inlay encircling band is up to 1.4 cm wide, the top is a straight edge and the bottom is a squatted pattern; there are 6 red pipestone geometric inlays within the band. The stem-end is capped with a band of encircling lead, 1.6 cm wide, that continues with 3 lead triangles (one on each face except for the bottom) each inlaid with a red pipestone arrowhead.
