Round wooden stem is a large branch with bark peeled and surface smoothed, polished and painted with dark brown stain/pigment. Four approximately 9.5 cm long encircling bands, approximately 0.2 cm deep, are cut into stem and covered with a brown (stained cotton?) cloth with small red print decoration over which are encircling strands of glass seed beads. The beads in the band closest to the mouthpiece are white, yellow, black, dark red, light red, and dark red. The beads in the next band are pink (most are missing), white, black, light red, and dark red. The beads in the next band are white, black, pink, amber, and light red. The beads in the band nearest the bowl-end are green, white, black, light red, and dark red. The four bands are approximately 11.4 cm apart and both end bands are approximately 10.5 cm from the tip of the mouthpiece or tip of the bowl-end. The mouthpiece and bowl-end extend from either ends of the stem and are cut/whittled to approximately one half of the diameter of the stem (end of stem at mouthpiece is 2.7 cm and the end of stem at the bowl-end is 3.0 cm.) The bowl-end is wrapped with cordage to (presumably) facilitate a tight fit with the pipe-head. The pipe-head is brown-red pipestone, one side speckled with or completely light red; T-shaped with oval cross section and flat bottom; smoothed and polished. The bowl is slightly conical. Decorations are two sets of raised encircling double bands on stem-end and bowl. Shank continues in front of bowl as a diamond cross-section prow. This calumet was used for the last time and presented with other Dream Dance material (OPM Acc 1229) on May 3, 1931 near Keshena, WI on the Menominee Indian Reservation, during a ceremony before the transfer of the Dream Dance material to the Oshkosh Public Museum.
