Description:
Arrow shaft smoother and straightener made from the antler of a young white-tailed deer.
Comments:
Arrows were usually made from straight shoots from low growing bushes or young trees. Shafts were straightened using heat and a straightening tool. The warmed wooden shaft was inserted in the hole in the tool and pressure was applied against the bent section until the shaft was straight.
