Object Name:
Mold, Bullet
Description:
Iron bullet mold for casting a round ball of about .434 caliber, for a muzzle loading rifle. The handle includes nipper (cutter) for removing the sprue. This is sometimes referred to as a "ball mold" because it could be easily carried in the loading pouch. It was probably handmade by a gunsmith rather than manufactured. It is stamped with what appears to be "70", which could be a marker's mark.
