Snuffbox
Description:
Painted snuffbox with small German silver shield inlay on cover and full length brass hinge. The box is made from 1/8" thick hardwood that is painted gloss black to resemble ebony. The cover is 1/4" thick with a rebate. The hidden hinge is held to the back side and cover using tiny rivets. There is much pocket wear, resulting in a smooth patina. Per donor, this snuffbox belonged to Robert Grignon.
