Elk tooth Necklace. Elk teeth, green glass trade beads and raw hide string. This necklace belonged to Louise Dutchman and was worn on very special occasions.
Comments:
Humans have worn necklaces for thousands of years. It is perhaps the most common form of adornment and remains very popular. It is assumed that Wisconsin's prehistoric peoples wore necklaces. Both Native men and women wore necklaces in historic times.

This necklace is made from the front teeth of several elk. It was collected on the Menominee Reservation in 1941 from Mrs. Charlie Dutchman.
