Object Name:
Crescent
Description:
Wittry Group III-B; copper crescent knife.
Comments:
This copper blade crescent knife would have been mounted to a wood or antler handle. The curved form makes a very efficient cutting tool because it offers both great control as well as the ability to apply powerful cutting pressure. It is similar to the traditional ulo knife of Alaska and Canada, which is still in use today.
